CSB to Hold News Conference Wednesday, December 9, in Houston, Texas, 10 am CST, 11 am EST; Making Significant Announcement and Releasing New Safety Recommendations from CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery Investigation
Who: U.S. Chemical Safety Board (CSB) - an independent federal agency charged with investigating industrial chemical accidents. The agency is headed by five board members appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate, and has a professional staff of engineers and safety experts.

What: News conference in Houston, Texas, to provide an important update on the CSB’s investigation into the July 19, 2009, accident at the CITGO Refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas, which resulted in a fire and release of highly toxic hydrofluoric acid (HF) from the alkylation unit. The fire critically injured one CITGO employee. One other employee was treated for possible HF exposure. The CSB will release new safety recommendations and other significant new information.
